Album Review

The Rolling Stones – Beggars Banquet
5 Stars
Here the Stones finally found their groove. They grew up from the British Invasion, stopped trying to be the anti-Beatles, and created the sound that would make them the world’s Greatest Rock’n’Roll Band. The sound was largely acoustic, bluesy, and guitar driven with a heavy dose of country folk thrown in. The results are outstanding. You’ll find a few classics here (Sympathy, Street Fightin’ Man), but the album is packed with lesser known gems that display the band’s fine guitar work, stunning harmonica melodies, driving bass lines, and (of course) Jagger’s unique and evocative vocals.
